Blueberry and Green Tea Smoothie

This recipe comes from Prevention Magazine. It was about how to boost your fat burn. Green tea gives your metabolism an extra jolt and so give this a try for those of you who are breakfast skippers. Or for those of us who just like these flavor combinations:-)

  • 177.44 ml water
  • 2 green tea bags (brew tea the night before to save time in the morning)
  • 473.18 ml blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 3 ice cubes
  • 340.19 g non-fat vanilla yogurt
  • 29.58 ml almonds, whole dry-roasted, unsalted (about 20)
  • 29.58 ml flax seeds, ground


  1. Bring water to a boil and pour over tea bags.
  2. Steep 4 minutes.
  3. Squeeze and remove tea bags and discard.
  4. Chill tea overnight.
  5. If using fresh blueberries, place in freezer overnight.
  6. Place tea, blueberries, ice, yogurt, almonds, and flaxseed in blender.
  7. Process until smooth.

I made 1/2 the amount serving 2 of us. Used hemp seeds in place of the flax. Loved starting my day with this nutritious drink. Thanks!

I've made and thoroughly enjoyed this several times. :) My only change was to omit the ice cubes and - using fresh berries - to make this the night before. So easy then to grab it in a Tupperware container for a yummy, healthy breakfast on-the-run! Thank you for adding such a delicious smoothie to my list of smoothies made regularly. Great healthy smoothie! My yogurt was frozen so I didn't use the ice cubes. I loved that this was fresh-tasting without being overly sweet. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
