Breakfast Bars

"These are a great way to start your day--they aren't crumbly, so these bars are the perfect "on-the-go" breakfast for little hands to grab on their way to school, or for bigger hands on their way to the office!"

  1. I love these bars!!!! I eat a breakfast bar, banana and yogurt every morning for breakfast. The bars were just getting to expensive and had a lot of sugar. So, I looked to the "Zaar" and found these. I made them with dried cherries instead of raisins - just don't like them. I didn't have any evaporated milk so I used 1/2 n 1/2. I also added a little bit of cinnamon - I like spice with my oatmeal. Made them in a 9 X 13 and cut them in 16 large bars. Thank you for this post.

  2. We need to leave for school for my daughter at 6:45 am, so I was looking for some healthy options to grab and eat in the car. This basic recipe is fantastic. We have tried with chopped prunes and walnuts and are about to try dried cherries. I also plan to try peanut butter (minus some of the oil). Thanks for providing this!

  3. These were good. Not too sweet, although I did use dried apricots in place of raisins and added in a few dark chocolate chips as well as pecans instead of walnuts. Both my little ones like these and I always prefer to give homemade when able. Thanks!

  4. Very enjoyable bars here. I made half without the raiins though. This is perfect, because I dont have to spend gobs of money on those cereal/breakfast bars at the store. A very very easy recipe with great flavors. Made for Zaar Stars.

  5. These worked out wonderfully! I had been searching for something wholesome that my daughter "eat by berself" for breakfast and these were great. I omitted the nuts and used 2 cups of organic raisins since she only has two teeth. I may experiment with chopped apples, dried bananas and applesauce instead of oil. Endless possibilities! Addelyn and her daddy both gave 5 stars! Thanks for making my mornings easier with a toddler friendly breakfast cookie!

  4. Even though I did enjoy these, I feel they need a little more flavor. I added some vanilla but next time I'd probably put more in and also add some coconut or cocoa or something. Mine were a little crumbly. Not terrible but enough that I was glad I wasn't eating them without a plate. I don't care for raisins so I used dates instead. They were popular with the kids because they felt like they were eating cookies for breakfast! Thanks for sharing!

My name is Teresa, and I live in Lake Worth, Florida. I've been away from Zaar for a few years now..time sure flew! Lots has changed...some for the better, some not so much. I'm single again, and my cat, Stetson, passed away. Hopefully, I'll be around more and get back into the swing of things..I missed you guys!
