Caramel Oatmeal

"This recipe is too simple. I'm surprised it's not posted on Zaar. So I'm posting it. And I guess any flavor of pudding can be used (but no instant). This is from Jean Paré."

  1. Thi was really smooth and creamy and really spoke to my sweet tooth. I used instant pudding, because I couldn't find any other kind, but the oatmeal turned out really good anyhow.

  2. Yum! I love this (and I usually don't like oatmeal). It has a great, thick pudding consistancy and is very sweet. Probably not for me for everyday but what a treat! I used vanilla pudding instead of butterscotch and it turned out great. Thanks Boomette.

  3. Great oatmeal recipe! I made a single serving using half a box of pudding mix. I used sugar free pudding and it was the perfect sweetness. I dropped in a couple of blueberries just because I love them and that worked well too. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

  4. This has a very good flavor, but the pudding makes it very sweet. I wasn't sure what another reviewer meant by using only one box of pudding, until I noticed the box I had was only 3.4 oz (I only had/used one box). Also, I did use instant pudding because that is all we had, and it worked fine. This is just as easy as making quick oatmeal on the stove, and definitely worth trying! ETA - We tried this a second time using 1.25 oz. pistachio pudding and the artificial coloring was much less bright, as well as the sweetness being fine. The flavor didn't come through as much though, so I added whole pistachios, which brought that flavor up. This recipe serves 2.

  5. Perfectly sweet using a 1 ounce box of instant pudding. I wouldn't eat this every day because of the chemicals in these boxed puddings, but good for a special treat or maybe for kids who you can't get to eat oatmeal. Chopped hazelnuts on top were great!
