Enjoy this for breakfast or as a snack. It's made from a delicious and nutritious combination of bananas, creamy yogurt, rich soy milk, almond butter and cocoa. Adapted from Whole Foods.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 ripe banana, peeled and cut into 2-inch chunks (fresh or frozen)
  • 6 ounces vanilla soy yogurt (or regular vanilla yogurt)
  • 34 cup vanilla-flavored soymilk (or rice milk or almond milk-more or less to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (carob is good too!)
  • 1 tablespoon finely ground flax seed
  • 1 tablespoon honey (more or less to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast (optional)
  • 12 cup ice cube (optional)

Directions

  1. If using frozen banana, you can skip the ice if you wish.
  2. Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and process at top speed for about 1 minute or until smooth.
  3. Pour into a glass and serve. Enjoy!

Woweee...this is so good Sharon. After making your Easy Homemade Almond Butter, I knew I had to give this a try using the butter. My banana was frozen and so I opted out of the iceccubes and also the nutritional yeast. The flax seed meal adds a nice texture and just a bit of a crunch. Just the right amount of sweetness with the honey too. I used skim milk for my liquid of choice. Really Really Good!!! Made for Vegn-n-Swap~

The title says it all in that it is a dream...tastes dreamy...dreamy creamy drink and my new favorite special treat :)...I didn't have the yogurt the first time so I used tofu and sweetened it first with honey and vanilla...made for a thicker shake that way (but almost too thick to drink w/ out a spoon)...got the yogurt the next time and loved it ...a perfect dream (better than the best chocolate milk memory from childhood)...now I have more yogurt and I am very excited 'cause I found chocolate soy to try it with !!! (Have to note to definitely include the nutritional yeast it adds to the flavors dramatically and will not disappoint you)... :) ps... {{I've been playing with it more too...yesterday (inspired by the spoon idea) I made a big batch as "ice dream" ;) ;) :) used a block of tofu added date and nut and seed "chips&chunks" & some coconut butter to add more body... also some cinnamon and chili spices - than put it in the freezer to hide it from myself {{{lol}}} ;)- I have to try to enforce some self control with this one ;) I hope it will help me in my journey away from real ice cream- or at least trick me on the way ;) }}} This potion is a dream come true :)- (it has also inspired my to add cocoa and nut flavors to my spinach drinks) LOVE-love-LOVE it ...Thanks for sharing the dreams Sharon - DE-LISH!!!
