These scones were full of flavor! I normally make buttermilk ones, so these were great as I didn't have to buy buttermilk. My DD took the dough and cut it into the traditional triangles. I added mini cinnamon chips and semi sweet chocolate chips and topped them with sugar crystals. Made for Potluck tag.

These are so good!!! I made them back on 8/30, but it went to sub-domain of breakfast, so now adding the review to the recipe. Just loved the added sweetness from the chocolate chips and I too saved a bit of sugar and sprinkled that on top after brushing with milk. As I recall, I cut the recipe in half and it made 4 scones. Thanks for sharing such a great recipe. Made for Holiday Tag Game.

Oh, Laura, these are extraordinary! I made these for Mother's Day Brunch, and they were the very first thing gone - they didn't even make it halfway around the table (and there were two other types of scones, too!) I used a swiss milk chocolate bar, about 60g, chopped into good sized chunks, and shaped the dough into a round, which I then cut into six triangles. I brushed them with a bit of the milk, and sprinkled the top very lightly with sugar for a cruchy top. I wish I'd had time for a picture, because they were so gorgeous! I'm sure to make these again, as they were such a hit! Thanks so much for posting, Laura! Made for Zaar Stars Tag.

This recipe comes together nicely, making a wonderfully tender, tasty scone. I cut the butter in with my pastry blender (what you use to make piecrusts). I used an imported extra-dark Belgian chocolate. I saved roughly 1 teaspoon of the sugar to sprinkle on top of the scones after brushing with milk. Since I didn't have metric measuring implements, I converted the recipe as follows -
1.5 cups + 2 teaspoons flour, 1/2 cup butter, 3/4 cup milk, chocolate-just under 1/2 cup. This worked out great & I will make them using these measurement conversions again. Thanks Loula for another delectable delight! Made for Everyday Holiday Tag-Mar'10.

What was funny about this is that I misplaced my metric measuring cup, but after an hour of looking it was found. Now, since DS is working all day I made 6 for the 3 of us. We absolutely enjoyed these. I used dark chocolate since I had that on hand. This made for a great mid morning treat. Strongly recommended. Made for 1-2-3 hi wonders.

Fantastic flavor and nice sturdy scones. I used an online converter to make sure I did not have any issues and they worked out perfectly! I used a milk-chocolate bar chopped up roughly. Great with my morning coffee! Made for 123 Hits tag game.

Lovely scones...the basic batter reminds me of the type I grew up on...but back then no chocolate chips :)...love the subtle sweetness - just the right amount of butter & sugar for the perfect touch of creaminess...I used a 'nilla rice milk and "smart balance"...added a bit of salt (i need it with the sugar and chocolate) :)- rolled them out and cut w/ a glass into circles 'stead of squares & brushed the tops with more rice milk, honey and cinnamon sugar...THE BEST SCONES Lalaloula, Thanks for the share...this could be a "go-to dough batter for a delish scone with any add on...plan to do a date version next... Thanks again :)

Tasty! The only problem I encountered, and I am pretty sure this has to do with having to convert the measurements (how I wish we used metric like everyone else!!), was that my dough was too soupy to cut. So I ended up having to put all of the dough in the pan, bake it a little longer, and then slice. So we didn't get the lovely crunchy edge all around the scones. But they were delicious nonetheless! Thanks for sharing!
