My DD made these yummy scones the other night when we wanted to use up buttermilk before it turned on us. I actually wasn't fond of scones prior to these as they were always so dry! This recipe however delivers a fabulously moist a flavorful scone! She opted to skip the glaze and instead sprinkled large crystals of sugar on top. This recipe has turned me into a convert.

My family enjoyed these scone very much. I would have wanted them a tad bit sweeter, but they are scones not muffins.
I will be making them again!

Nice for a change. Omitted the glaze to reduce the sugar content. I used 1 cup wholewheat flour. Didn't have chocolate chips on hand so I bashed a bar of chocolate and added the chunks to the dough. I also added 1/2 a cup of chopped pecans. I can't say I would have enjoyed these as much without the nuts.

Fantastic! So glad wildyeris said half and half could be substituted--that's what I was trying to use up! I just brushed the tops with half and half and sprinkled with sugar. Delicious.

I really thought this scone came out pretty good. As stated, they are not too chocolatey and they certainly are a change from regular fruit scones. Made this for the Flour Power event in the photo forum. Thanks for sharing!

Standing ovation!! I like scones that aren't very sweet so I didn't use the glaze. It was perfect without. I also didn't use the egg wash, but put a tiny bit of butter on each one before serving. Delish! I think next time I will make mini scones as this is the perfect recipe for it. I also like the idea of adding nuts. I have a Bible study group that will fall over for these. My kids loved them (They gave a standing O at the table). Thanks!

Lovely recipe. I made 16 smaller scones with a mini scone pan and mini semi-sweet chocolate chips. They turned out just right within 15 minutes of baking. Thanks for the great recipe, Sue L. This one's a keeper ;).

I liked that these weren't too chocolatey - not that there's anything wrong with chocoate mind you, but I thought they were just right! Next time I will add some walnuts and maybe try brown sugar in place of the white ... I imagine they will taste like a Tollhouse cookie! Very good recipe - thanks for posting! -M

Made these today for a class tea party. Mmmm. I realized when I started making them that I didn't have any buttermilk, so I substituted half and half with a little milk. They still turned out fine. Thanks!

This makes very tasty scones. You can also cut your work time in hal by using the Bisquick recipe. The results are the same.
