    Amber W's Note:

My mom tried a Bumble bar when in Idaho and recreated the recipe. This is her basic recipe which is great. I have tried dried fruit with the basic recipe for a wonderful taste. Note: Since I got this recipe I have not been able to find evaporated cane syrup. My mom's solution was to dissolve pure cane sugar and cook it down a little to make it thicker. I just use corn syrup.

Even better than the store bought ones, super easy to make and can customize nuts and sugar content. Don't bake too long or they will end up crunchy, however they are amazing as crunchy bars too. You can't go wrong. I used brazil nuts instead of macadamias. Easy to find plain or maple agave and organic light corn syrup from health food stores. Don't be shy with the vanilla and salt, it brings all the favors out.

Wow, I am very happy, only wish I had discovered this years ago... we love Bumble Bars! I could not find either of the two recommended sweeteners so used Trader Joe's Organic Maple Agave Syrup Blend - pretty fantastic! I also added some ground sunflower seeds since I was a little short on the sesame seeds. They are in the oven now but having sampled the raw mix, we are expecting great things. Thank you for sharing!

This was a great recipe! I love bumble bars, just not the price. These are about as close as I could come out of my own kitchen. I'm excited to play with the recipe to come up with clones for the other bumble bar flavors, esp the chocolate! A few notes....since most of the nuts I used were roasted and salted, I should have cut the salt in the recipe slightly. Also, I found brown rice syrup in the organic/natural section of the grocery store (it's an organic sweetener). I couldn't find evaporated cane syrup. However, I did have evaporated cane juice crystals on hand, so I just mostly dissolved 2 Tbsp of the crystals in just enough water to make a syrup. Worked perfectly! I also let a friend try out the results and she loved it too, as did my husband and kids. Thanks for the great recipe Judy!
