Peppered Sausage Gravy and Biscuits

ingredients
- 453.59 g jimmy dean mild sausage (any pork sausage)
- 9.85 ml minced garlic
- 59.14 ml butter
- 78.78 ml all-purpose flour
- 1.23 ml ground pepper
- 1.23 ml seasoning salt
- 1.23 ml basil
- 396.89 g can ready-to-serve chicken broth
- 59.14 ml half-and-half
- 340.19 g can pillsbury refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
directions
- Bake biscuits according to directions on can.
- In a large skillet, fry crumbled up sausage til done and no longer pinkish.
- Drain sausage, (do not wipe pan clean) add sausage back into pan.
- Add 2 teaspoons minced garlic and simmer on low heat while making the gravy.
- In a medium sauce pan on medium heat melt butter and add flour, pepper, seasoning salt and basil.
- Slowly add can chicken broth and half and half.
- Bring to a boil while stirring to thicken gravy.
- Add sausage to gravy mixture.
- Simmer 5 minutes.
- Serve over biscuits.

Served with a couple of eggs scrambled. We have been raving all day about this great meal. I am sure if one is ambitious enough homemade biscuits would make it better, however the convenience and the time saved by using refrigerated biscuits should not be overlooked as the gravy is what makes this recipe a winner. Thank You !!

This was very good. It went together very quickly and easily. It didn't seem to make a lot of gravy in relation to the amount of sausage, so next time I will double the gravy ingredients (not the sausage) to get more gravy. Also, I will use low-sodium chicken broth to reduce the saltiness. My family enjoyed this and I will be making it again. Thank you for sharing.

Very hearty breakfast. Served with a couple of eggs scrambled. My husband has been raving all day about this great meal.
