Seems like I'm making French toast nowadays with almost anything but French bread, & enjoying it all, as we did with this recipe! My first time using this kind of bread, & it's definitely a winner! The only change I made was to add an additional amount of the orange zest! A keeper of a recipe, for sure! Thanks for posting it! [Tagged & made in Please Review My Recipe]

Very nice French Toast! I've never baked a french toast before and this was really good. I scaled this down to a single serving and enjoyed the subtle orange flavor. Topped with a little syrup this made a great breakfast - thanks for sharing the recipe! Made for the Top Favorites of 2009 event

I love french toast and this beauty did not disappoint. I scaled it down for one and garnished it simply with powdered sugar. Oh sooo good. The orange zest adds wonderful flavor. I can't wait to make this again. Thank you so much for sharing another winner. Made for the Winner of the Recipe of the Day Game. Comfort Cafe /09 :)

Totally agree with A Good Thing - this is a cross between french toast and bread pudding. Both crisp and custardy, it is addictive! The orange zest added lots of great flavour. We gobbled this up and wanted more. :-)

My hubby says this is a delightful cross between a French toast and a bread pudding. It's sort of crispy on the top and like bread custard on the bottom. I started with homemade Portuguese Sweet Bread for the Bread Machine - which was very easy. We loved the hint of orange in this and the guys, in particular, raved and raved about it. I found that one thick slice was plenty for me as it's a bit rich. I topped the toast with some beautiful orange slices, maple syrup, and golden syrup. Fantastic! Made for ZWT 5 - thanks Lynn. (-:
